“I always try to keep my plants healthy as they give me much happiness”
By Jhansi Lakshmi
I love gardening, but my gardening journey started recently. As my children have grown up and left abroad for higher education, I now have more free time to maintain my own garden. I was inspired by my father who used to maintain the plants with care during my childhood and taught me the same. But due to a busy schedule and raising kids, I didn’t have time to manage.
Although I didn’t have prior gardening experience before starting my own home garden, I did learn from my father who is a farmer and who taught me how to take care of plants and their needs.
My plants change depending on the season. I grow a variety of plants including Peppermint, Mint, Lettuce, Spinach, Tomato, Coriander, Ginger, Miracle Plant, Cluster Beans, Bitter Gourd, Curry Leaves, Chillies and other leafy vegetables. My favourite plants to grow are Lettuce and Peppermint. I also love to grow herbal plants which helps to improve our immunity.
My biggest gardening challenge is the lack of sunlight during winter. There isn’t enough sunlight for the plants. I shift the plants to the other side of the apartment so that they get some rays which keeps them healthy. Homecrop grow bags are easy to handle and make this process easy.
The best gardening tip is to love your plants. A person has to love their plants in order to grow them better. I use water in which fruit peels are soaked for an hour and then prepare compost with those peels later. This fruit peel compost worked very well for me. I observed plants growing healthy. I also use my grandpa’s techniques which are very sustainable and eco-friendly. They used to prepare many things at home for plants which supported organic farming.
My family and I have achieved good health as everything is grown using organic techniques. We’ve saved a lot of money too instead of spending on vegetables which are available in the market using high amounts of pesticides.
For beginner gardeners, I would suggest that you love your plants and spend some time taking care of them. They help you feel fresh, achieve good health and save plenty of money by growing your vegetables at home in a healthy way without pesticides.
My garden is an important part of my life now. My day starts fresh and I feel happy when I see my plants early in the morning. I always try to keep my plants healthy as they give me much happiness.
I love my garden and Homecrop products🌱☘️✌🏻
